# Business mailbox (mail server)

Do not install a mail server in the container: inbound mail cannot reach it and outbound SMTP is blocked. Runalio
already runs the mail server for each website:

- One shared inbox per website on the customer's **own domain**, with a primary address and up to 32 aliases
  (for example `hello@`, `orders@`, `support@`).
- Mail is received by Runalio's mail transport and stored **in this website's own container**
(`/workspace/.runalio-mail/`), outside the published website. Do not modify those files.
- The owner and team members read, reply, forward and send from the Runalio portal's **Email** page (Inbox, Sent,
Drafts, Junk, Trash). Outgoing mail is DKIM-signed by Runalio.

## What to do on the website

- Show the business address on the contact page and in the footer (for example `mailto:hello@their-domain.com`).
- For forms, prefer the `contact-form` guide (entries go to Leads); for automatic emails sent by the backend, use the
  `email-sending` guide.

## What the customer needs to do

1. Connect their own domain in Runalio (Domains & SSL). Email cannot use the shared `runalio.ai` address.
2. Open the portal's **Email** page, choose the domain and primary address, and approve the DNS records (MX, SPF,
DKIM, DMARC). With Runalio-managed DNS this is applied for them; otherwise they add the records at their DNS
   provider.
3. Add aliases as needed and send a test message.

You (the coding agent) cannot create mailboxes or DNS records; tell the customer these steps.
