MOVE TO RUNALIO
Moving from Wix.
Updated 30 September 2026. Builders change their menus often; if a step looks different, use the linked help article.
Wix sites run only on Wix’s servers, so there’s no site export. Plan to copy your text and download your images, then rebuild in Runalio. This guide shows where your content, contacts, domain and email live, and what to do before you cancel.
Before you start
- Wix has no tool that exports pages or design. Copy your text and download your own images while your Wix site is live.
- Free Wix and Shutterstock media can’t be downloaded or used outside Wix, so plan replacements for any stock images.
- Your site plan, domain, business email and apps are separate subscriptions, and each is cancelled on its own.
Save your pages and images
- Make a page checklist by opening yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml and each sitemap it lists. Also check the page list in your editor, because hidden pages may be missing from the sitemap.
- Open each page on your live site and copy its text into a document.
- Download the files you uploaded. In your dashboard, Settings → Manage Storage shows every upload in one list: select the files and click Download. You can also download folder by folder from the Media Manager.
- If you use CMS collections, go to CMS, open the collection, then choose More Actions → Export to CSV.
Save your contacts and form messages
- Contacts: Contacts → Import / Export → Export → All Contacts → “Regular CSV file” → Export. Each export holds up to 50,000 contacts, and only the site owner can export.
- Form submissions: Forms & Submissions → hover over the form → More Actions → View submissions → select the submissions → Export. For old Wix Forms, use the Old Forms tab → View Submissions Table → More Actions → Export to CSV.
- Check the Spam and Trash tabs too. Spam is emptied after 30 days, and Trash after 180 days.
- Member details can be exported where your dashboard offers it, but member logins can’t be moved.
Store, blog and bookings
- Wix says blog posts can’t be exported to other platforms. The blog-posts sitemap lists every post, so copy what you want to keep.
- Products: select all in the Product tab → More Actions → Export. Orders: select all in the Orders tab → Export. Bookings: Booking List → Export icon.
- Source store, blog and booking backends do not migrate automatically. Keep these exports and ask the coding agent to rebuild and connect the required workflows.
Recreate your site in Runalio
- Sign in at portal.runalio.com. Choose the correct website in the website selector. The portal opens in your business dashboard. Choose Design space to chat with your coding agent.
- Save the business name, contact details, services and prices in Business details and Services. These manual changes do not use AI tokens.
- Use Import Website for a public URL you have permission to reuse, then choose pages and inspect the report. Importing replaces the working design while preserving the live site. Or use Add content to upload your text, brand guidelines, photos or video, or paste written content. Files appear in the Asset gallery; attach the relevant files to the chat.
- Ask the agent to recreate the site using those files. Messages can contain up to 12,000 characters. For example: “Rebuild our cookie shop from this brief and these photos. Add About and Contact pages, use light blue and cream, and keep these exact prices.”
- Review the actual website preview beside the chat. Use Desktop and Mobile preview, and expand the design space for more room. Ask for color, layout, wording or page changes. AI requests count toward the account’s shared monthly token allowance.
- Test images, links, forms and any order or payment integration. Verify every price, claim, contact detail and required privacy notice.
- Click Publish website for the reviewed version. Draft changes remain private until publication. Test the public site and send a sample inquiry.
Keep independent copies of your exports. Generated content can contain mistakes, and builder-specific forms or store backends do not move automatically. Do not upload passwords, secret keys or payment card information.
Your domain
- A domain bought from Wix is managed under Domains → Domain Actions → Manage DNS Records. Its name servers can’t be changed.
- If you cancel your site plan, the domain stays registered as its own subscription, but it’s disconnected from your site. Wix’s help doesn’t describe web forwarding, so until you can connect the domain to Runalio, either keep your Wix plan running or transfer the domain to a registrar that offers forwarding.
- To transfer the domain: Domains → Domain Actions → Transfer away from Wix → Transfer Domain → I Still Want to Transfer. Wix emails the transfer (EPP) code to the domain’s registrant contact. Transfers aren’t possible for 60 days after you buy, transfer or change the registrant details of a domain. Wix recommends turning off private registration first, and a transfer usually takes up to 7 days.
- After a transfer, add all your DNS records at the new provider straight away. Wix says business email won’t work until the MX records are added again.
- Domain registered elsewhere and connected to Wix: copy its records, whether they’re at your registrar or in Wix, before you use Remove from Wix.
See your domain options in Runalio for what you can do today.
Your email
- Wix sells Google Workspace business email, bought separately from the site plan. Cancelling the plan doesn’t cancel email.
- If your domain stays at Wix, leave the MX and TXT records alone and email keeps working.
- Before a transfer, copy the MX records, the SPF TXT record (v=spf1), DKIM (google._domainkey), DMARC (_dmarc) and verification records. Ask Wix Customer Care what will happen to the Wix-billed Workspace subscription; Wix doesn’t document it.
- Moving Workspace billing from Wix to Google is done through Wix Customer Care and can’t be undone.
Cancel your old plan safely
- Cancel the site plan last: Premium Subscriptions → More Actions next to the plan → Cancel Plan → Cancel Now.
- Cancelling within 14 days of a first-time purchase refunds you and ends the plan at once, including the custom domain connection. After 14 days, the plan runs to the end of the billing period.
- Domains, private registration and Google Workspace bought through Wix aren’t refundable.
- Cancelling doesn’t delete your content: the old site stays at its wixsite.com address, with Wix ads, until you unpublish it. Don’t close your Wix account until any domain you want to keep has been transferred, because closing can’t be undone.
